Gymnastic Club Opening Proves Resounding Success

Our Grand Opening

The Club's new facilities  have been officially opened, with over 200 gymnasts, parents and friends joined by a number of special guests to mark the occasion.

Marcus Jones, MP for Nuneaton, performed the official ribbon cutting on Saturday 26 January 2013, welcoming the provision of a club which offers significant opportunities for the local community.

The opening follows the extensive refurbishment of the Club made possible through Olympic legacy funding of almost £50,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund. In addition to seeing how the investment has helped in developing the town’s gymnasts, guests were also able to tour the facilities, an excellent example of a project that has directly benefited from the legacy of last summer’s superb Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Club’s gymnasts put on a display of their skills for the  guests who included Dave Long from Sport England (a Coventry based athlete who has competed at the Olympics in the Marathon); Elfie Allen, the club’s founder; David Carr, Councillor for the ST Nicholas Park ward; Nathan Blundell, Club Development Officer for Nuneaton & Bedworth Leisure Trust; Janet Stubbs and Ann Haynes from the Nuneaton & Bedworth Sports Forum; and Liz Hawker from British Gymnastics.

Head Of Coaching

Nuneaton Olympic Gymnastic Club: Head of Coaching

Salary: negotiable (minimum 18 hours per week, competitive rates)

The Executive Committee of Nuneaton Olympic Gymnastic Club is seeking to recruit an experienced Head Coach with drive and commitment to work with them in the creation of a centre of excellence for gymnastics in the Nuneaton and Bedworth area.

Nuneaton Olympic Gymnastic Club is an established club run on a not-for-profit basis by the Executive Committee and a team of employed and volunteer coaches and support staff. It offers training six days a week in Women’s, Men’s, PreSchool and Adult gymnastics.

In 2011 the Club moved to a dedicated facility in the centre of Nuneaton and in 2012 secured a significant grant from the Sport England Inspired Facilities fund which has been used to upgrade the facilities and equipment and develop the coaching team. Over this period the gymnastic base has increased threefold, with the Club now training over 230 gymnasts a week.

We are seeking a Head Coach to take the Club to a new level of success. This is an unmissable opportunity for an individual wishing to use their creativity and expertise to develop gymnastics at both grass-roots and competitive levels, supported by a dynamic and committed Executive Committee.
